RR Crane in Westerly RI

The crane, I am told, belongs to the for sale building in the photo below.  It was a blue Seal grain company at on e time and had its own siding so that train cars could be placed for the crane to unload the contents.  I am still working on tracking down the owner to find out more about the crane.  The clerk at the train station nearby didn't know anything about it but the nice lady in the adjacent Agway store remembered it being used perhaps 20 years ago.

In the photos below it looks like a crank could be mounted on both ends of the shaft for raising heavy loads.  Before it rusted solid the shaft could be slid out of engagement so the the large gear wheel could rapid traverse the hook.  Very neat take up spool for the chain!
